On the 2nd November 2022, Mashariki African Film festival is launching its 8th edition with “Afro futurism” as the theme. The festival is celebrating cinema as a language and culture, telling stories that bring Africa as protagonist and showing how African filmmaking is capable of showing, dreaming and courageously speaking out for the future of the continent.
The 8 th edition will take place from the 26th to the 2nd of December 2022 in Kigali (Rwanda). the opening evening will take place at Century Cinema (Kigali) the 26th of November with the film La Graviteﹶ (The Gravity) a French Film based in Burkina Faso by Cedric Ido. This Film is Based on a story of An unprecedented alightment of Planets impacting gravity will upset the balance of the ghetto and the destiny of two duos of brothers eager to do anything for their freedom in an unceasing fight between old & new Generations.
Mashariki will screen 72 movies divided in 4 categories ( 10 documentaries, 12 Long features, 23 short and 27 Iziwacu Films). The festival will also include workshops and masterclasses by international and African filmmakers. Irrevocably, this year’s Edition Mashariki African Film Festival will partner with DISCOP
AFRICA a leading B2B market for film, television, and digital content distribution and co-production business in Sub-Saharan Africa. DISCOP Africa will celebrate its 26th edition in 2022 and take place in Kigali, Rwanda from Tuesday 29th november to Thursday 1st December.
